We cater for members across all age ranges and competitive levels. Some members are quite social in their rowing and row only one or two days a week, while others are very competitive and compete at regattas all over the country. We are part of the North Queensland Regatta Circuit and take part in regional regattas that are held at Cairns, Innisfail, Townsville, Riverway and Mackay. We then also compete on the broader competitive circuit that takes in State Masters Championships, National Master Championship, and the World Masters Championships.
Our membership categories include:
- Competitive Memberships for Adults,
- Recreational Memberships for Adults,
- Competitive Memberships for Juniors (18 years and under) ,
- Recreational Memberships for Juniors (18 years and under) ,
- Student Memberships (18 years and over) ,
- Coaches, Coxswains and Social non-rowers.
We also provide for a ‘one-off' row if you are passing by.
Your membership includes full personal insurance while you are at the club and on the waterway, provided that you comply with our policies while undertaking rowing activities. Club members are insured under an Insurance Policy provided through our affiliation with Rowing Queensland, our governing body. A copy of the Policy is available through Rowing Queensland. Should any members have any queries in relation to the Policy or it's coverage, we ask that you please contact Rowing Queensland.
We provide all boats and equipment required for members to take part in the sport, so you don’t need any equipment of your own to get started or to be a member. Our fleet of boats is modern and maintained under a regular maintenance program. We also provide equipment to cover all boat types for sweep and scull rowing and use a booking system to ensure that all boats are accessible to all members.
We run a number of training and development programs throughout the year to help members develop their skill sets and also run safety programs to assist with capsize recovery to ensure everyone stays safe on the water way.
Our club house is located on Trawler Base Road, also known as Fearnley Street, opposite the Fearnley Street boat ramp. Look for the cream coloured colorbond building.
Parking is available immediately outside the club house compound along the roadway that fronts the water way. We ask that you use these vehicle car parks in the first instance rather than park in the boat trailer car parks. Please note that these car parks are patrolled by Cairns Port Authority and request that parking restrictions are observed. Parking on verges and non-regulated areas may attract infringement notices.
Our membership year extends from January 01 to December 31. Membership fees are prorated throughout the year depending on when you join, so please get in touch with us if you are looking at joining part way through the year for the discounted fee.
We review our fees on a yearly basis and aim to keep them as low as possible to make the sport affordable for everyone. Membership fees are noted on the Membership Form. See below.
Please follow the link below to our Registration Form. If you have rowed previously and would like to join up, please download and fill this in and return to the club via email. If you are new to the sport, we strongly recommend that you register for the Learn to Row Program. Details are on this site under Programs.
